My work at Tallie

2013-2015

When I joined Tallie in August 2013, there was no marketing department. I was the CMO's first full-time, permanent hire, and over the next two years we fought tooth and nail to earn Tallie a seat at the table in an established ecosystem of accounting software.

In my time there, I championed the organization's transformation into a conversion-focused inbound marketing strategy (including switching from Pardot and leading my first Hubspot implementation). I learned the importance of backing up ideas with data, and in turn, I pioneered the cultivation of data-driven marketing for our team. This yielded happy results in many forms—from creating and analyzing onboarding flows, to executing monthly A/B test experiments, and the introduction of weekly multi-channel analysis reports to top executives.

I managed enterprise SaaS partnerships to facilitate dozens of partner webinars, content offers, social media campaigns, and tradeshow collaboration. Oh, and I got to ghost write for our c-levels!

My specialty came in leading cross-team collaboration to solve big problems with limited resources, such as optimizing the free trial funnel, creating reader-friendly technical content, increasing product usage, and project managing a website redesign.

In June 2017, Tallie merged with Certify, Nexonia, and Expensewatch—backed by $125 million in equity funding by K1—to form the largest expense management software company in the financial management SaaS marketplace.

Feedback from Tallie colleagues:

Claire Milligan, Vice President, Product Management at Certify, Inc. a family of brands

I was lucky enough to work with Alicia in a variety of contexts while at Tallie - both as her interim manager and as her coworker - and every time it was a joy to work with her. Alicia has an uncanny complement of skills - she can easily strategize for the market landscape at a high level, while executing detailed tasks on her own and rallying her team to meet deadlines and achieve results. Alicia deeply cares about the health of the business as well as the needs of her teammates. There was no one in this office that bled Tallie green like Alicia does. I'm sure there's a long list of marketing skills that Alicia has under her belt that I could confirm, but in the end I can promise you this: give her a subject area and she'll master it; give her a responsibility and she'll deliver on it. She's just that good.

Sylvia Esmundo, former VP Marketing at Tallie

Some marketing professionals stick to developing broad, high-level strategies, while others do best with day-to-day execution. However, as a key member of a small, fast-paced marketing department, Alicia excels at both. She is an equally capable leader as she is a reliable and effective team player. Her tireless commitment to results is evident in every single one of her projects, be it optimizing inbound nurturing campaigns, managing partner relationships, or building our marketing automation environment from scratch. In addition to Tallie’s marketing and sales teams, Alicia works closely with top executives and developers, with whom she is well known as a versatile, creative, and invaluable employee.

Jules Carman, former VP Business Development at Tallie

Alicia was an integral part of Tallie’s marketing team—she maximized our brand exposure and improved bottom-line sales through focused SEO, CRO, and “all things marketing” efforts, in conjunction with targeted go-to-market strategies. Alicia brings a strong sense of urgency to the task of helping businesses experience new growth and profit potential via media exposure—and the smart application of that exposure—along with her pricelessly positive attitude and continued daily goal of self improvement.
